If you’re ready to fix your bite and alignment problems with clear aligners, you won’t think twice before smiling. Invisalign is nearly invisible when worn over your teeth, so you don’t have to worry about unwanted attention drawn to your smile. However, if you’re not careful, your aligners can turn yellow. Besides brushing them every day, you can keep them looking and smelling their best with Invisalign Cleaning Crystals.
Benefits of Invisalign Cleaning Crystals
Oral hygiene is important when wearing clear aligners. Bacteria and plaque can get trapped between your aligners and your enamel, increasing your risk of cavities and gum disease. Not to mention, your aligners can discolor and start to smell if they aren’t kept clean.
Brushing your aligners at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a mild hand soap or dishwashing liquid will help keep them clean. However, bacteria can hide in small spaces your toothbrush can’t reach. Invisalign Cleaning Crystals kill any bacteria your toothbrush couldn’t reach. They will kill over 99.9% of harmful bacteria in about 15 minutes when used correctly.

You can ensure you’re cleaning your aligners correctly using the crystals by following a few tips:
- Remove and Rinse: Carefully remove your aligners and rinse them with warm water. Do not rinse them with hot or boiling water because they can warp.
- Mix Warm Water and Crystals: Mix one packet of cleaning crystals in a container of water with a lid.
- Shake to Dissolve: It should only take about 20 seconds of agitation to dissolve and distribute the crystals.
- Let Them Sit: Let your aligners sit in the solution for about 15 minutes. It’s best to do this while you’re eating because you must take your aligners out to eat. You’ll reduce the amount of time your aligners are out of your mouth by using dinnertime as an opportunity to clean them.
- Shake and Rinse: Shake the container one more time for about 20 seconds before removing your aligners. Rinse them with warm water and pop them back in your mouth.
Remember to remove your aligners when having anything except water. Eating or drinking with them in your mouth can cause stains. Don’t forget to brush and floss your teeth before putting them in your mouth.
